William Penn hosting No. 13 Friends University, and this was a close one all throughout.

We’ll pick it up in late in the first half, and it’s Shann Sellers with the offensive rebound and the score. Rebounding would play a huge factor in this one, Friends up 25-20.

But senior Janay Pritchett had the last word in the first half, as the senior goes coast-to-coast to given Penn a 28-27 lead at the break.

Second half action now, and it’s still tight. Senior Vanessa Kieres finds senior Katie Golomski and she makes it rain, three ball and the bench loves it, Penn up 38-36 with 12 minutes left in the game.

But Friends isn’t going away. Kayla Mollere, drives left, tear drop and the bucket, Mollere had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Friends up one.

Less than three minutes to go, Penn’s down five, but here come the Lady Statesmen.  Pritchett, corner three, bang,  and a few plays later, it’s Golomski, splash. Penn up one late in the game.

After a pair of free throws by Friends, freshman Stevie Anderson is on the line, but she misses both of her free throws. Friends up one.

Penn needs a stop and a rebound, time winding down, as the ball’s knocked away, Friends corrals it, and Penn takes too long to foul. And that will do it, Friends avoids the upset, 60-59 over Penn. The Lady Statesmen were outrebounded 64-41 in this one. Pritchett led Penn with 23 points. Penn is now 3-4 and takes on Bethel on Wednesday night.
