This Saturday, an event that has kept William Penn staff members busy for months will finally come together. The Duck Plucker's Ball
is a track and field fundraiser that targets outdoor lovers. Hunters, trappers, and fishermen are encouraged to attend festivities ranging from shooting sporting clays to dinner and dancing. William Penn's Director of Constituent Relations, Jill Dursky says the shooting activities are still a go for 9AM at the Sir Izaak Walton League, but a few tweaks have been made to the evening's events because of the heat.
"We really wanted to do it out at the Armory. Thought it was a neat atmosphere to have a Duck Plucker's Ball, an outdoor event, but they tell me it's about 10 to 15 degrees hotter inside than it is outside. Add that with the temperatures we are having right now we don't want to put everybody through that."
So the ball has been moved to the air-conditioned Penn Central Mall where participants can start decorating their tables as early as one in the afternoon for the evening events. Dursky says the community really got behind the event during its first year.
"We are almost to 14-thousand dollars in donations. We had some great things come through last night from Pepsi, We have a lot of racing things out there, Weekend get aways. It's just amazing the support we have been given with this. So we are really excited and pumped the community is will to do that."
240 people are signed up for the fundraiser---there are still 60 open spots. People can still sign up at 9AM tomorrow at the Izaak Walton League located at 2358 Kirby Ave Oskaloosa,IA. 52577
