Here is a summary of the items covered during the meeting.

Sanitarian Report: Mahaska County Sanitarian Eric Dursky will be sending out letters to certain Oskaloosa residents on Carbonado Road to let them know they have two years to fix outdated septic tanks. The residents did have a choice to hook up to a city sewer but instead decided (with about a 70% vote) to stay on current, individual septic tanks.

MCARD (Mahaska County Agricultural & Rural Development) Report from Miranda Johnson: Inviting legislators to the Eddyville Cargill plant next month for a legislative day, free workshop hosted by Google Friday, March 9th 12:30 to 3:00 pm, HWY 63 project study moving forward, CLOW is looking to hire new employees and wants help from the high quality employment program, No 'Town and Country Banquet' this year one business was upset out of the twelve.

Approved: Public restrooms open at the courthouse for – Art on Square June 9th; Sweet Corn Serenade August 2nd; Christmas Parade November 29th & 30th.

Approved Ambulance Levy Resolution: 10 cent ambulance levy is no different than the levy from the past. MHP CEO Jay Christensen reported to the supervisors that the hospital volume is good, turnaround is good, staff is good. There are about 1,600 ambulance calls a year or about 120 - 170 calls a month. Christensen also said that in the upcoming years the levy will still be needed. Typical cost for an ambulance call runs about $300 to $400.

Meeting Adjourned - next Mahaska County Board of Supervisors meeting will be March 5th at 9:00 am on the 3rd floor of the Mahaska County Courthouse.
